16 hours to glory winning group project
CHALLENGE PROMPT.
Design a product, service, or structure that improves the experience of a young adult’s living space. Your solution must utilize the principles of sustainable materials management (SMM) , to create a change in how we think about the use of natural resources and environmental protection.
INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE.
We studied living space habits to understand where waste is coming from and why we are conditioned to overlook these common wasteful actions.
UNDERSTANDING THE USER.
Modern young adults who have grown up in an age of waste and fallen into harmful habits. They want to be sustainable, but are caught in the negligence and hurry of our fast moving society.
Most interactions we have with products are quick and occur without thought. We are not conscious of the waste created from these interactions, resulting in wasteful habits.
How might we create a conscious consumer by highlighting their wasteful habits with everyday products?
measure waste of your product interaction - rewire habits through intentional design - conscious consumers make sustainable decisions
CONCEPTION AND IDEATION.
DISCURSIVE DESIGN
We were heavily inspired by discursive design and wanted our design to be a thought catalyst as well as a functional product.
